Holiday is the time to really make things special. To turn heads and make your hair extra pretty for your party, now is the time to change it up! If you normally wear your hair straight, add texture. Conversely, if your hair is curly, take a little time to smooth it out. Celebrity stylist, Sherri Jessee, from Sherri's Hair Salon shares amazing hair tips that will ensure you will shine at your holiday happenings.
1. Buns with Bling: Tight or loose, smooth or messy, it's your choice. Secure your hair in a pony tail and then twist your hair until if forms a bun. Just remember, for night time, buns are best with bling. Slide in a rhinestone comb or clip on a shiny barrette to dress up your chignon. On model Ming, I created this high bun using a bun filler and added crystal prisms borrowed from a chandelier. You can get an easy up-do kit from Ricky's NYC. |

2. Super Curly: For curls that last through an evening of dancing, be sure to take small sections and spray with a heat protecting iron spray like Sherri Jessee's STAY. Begin at the bottom and work your way up to the top curling one section at a time using a 1" Babyliss Pro Gold curling iron. Once you have curled all of your hair, allow the curls to cool and then run your hands through to slightly loosen them up.

3. Sleek Straight. You can always count on pin straight, luminous locks to create envy from your frizzy haired friends. Trick to keep it healthy is to use an ironing spray like Rusk Thermal Flat Iron Spray and adjust the temperature on your iron according to your hair type with an iron like the Babyliss Pro Titanium. Always remember, fine, color treated hair requires a lower temp than coarse, resistant hair. Click here to see how I achieved this beautiful look for Rusk. |

4. Old Hollywood Waves: This classic look is sure to get you attention as it is both sexy and elegant. Curl your hair on a Babyliss Pro Gold 1 1/4" curling iron. For extra body, pin each section after curling it and allow to cool. When you take the pins out, smooth through with a soft bristle brush and allow the waves to gently cascade. For Amber's amazing shine, I misted a light layer of Sherri Jessee's Brilliance. |
5. Braids: Braids, often worn on the red carpet are equally hot for holiday parties. The good thing about it, is even if you are not great at braiding, it's okay. Loose, textured braids can add romance to your style. Click to see an easy braiding trick how to video.
6. Crimps: Not just for the '80s anymore, crimping is back. To add in extra texture and increase fullness, crimp random sections throughout your style. On model, Kara, I used an affordable crimper by Gold-N-Hot.
7. Accessories: Adorning your do is definitely a must. By sliding in a sparkly headband, you can easily take your look from day to night. Pull back one side and clip on a flower. The choices are endless. Don't have the funds to purchase something new? Rummage through your jewelry box and pin on an antique brooch. In this awesome photo of model, Samantha, I pinned in a double strand of my grandmother's antique pearls. Click to view Monkey See how to video for ideas.
8. High Pony: Worn high on the head, this look is stately and elegant and is a great way to dress up next day hair. Smooth your hair back tightly using a soft bristle brush and secure with a covered elastic. Take a small section of hair from the pony and wrap it around in pin to conceal the elastic. To achieve extra height on gorgeous model, Nadia, I pulled her hair through a cardboard tube.
