Dirty Hair Help

Do you have a dirty little hair secret? If you skip washes a few times a week, don’t hide your questionable locks under the same old hat. No one will notice that your roots are getting a little greasy with these super-easy styling tips for sprucing up hair between shampoos!
HIDE OILY HAIR: There are so many great dry shampoos available. Ojon’s Full Detox™ Dry Cleansing Spray ($24) is my favorite as it helps dry up excess oil and leaves the hair with a great, fresh fragrance. A good alternative would be to use a fragranced body powder. Dab the powder in with a puff or a large powder brush, comb through, and fluff with a blow dryer. This will absorb the excess oils and simultaneously mask odor. Cornstarch or baking soda can also be used.
DISTRACT WITH A HAIR ACCESSORY: Second-day hair is easy to conceal when you sweep it back into a ponytail. The placement of your pony will determine its personality. A romantic feel is created when loosely twisted to the side, secured and accented with an antique (or antique-looking!) brooch, pin or clip.
DO A LOW PONY: Pull your hair back so that the ponytail is level with your ears, and secure with a wide barrette for a classic look.
…OR A HIGH PONY!: For a playful style, sweep hair all the way up into a high pony, and secure. For more polish, take a small section and wrap around to conceal the elastic. To get the sleekest ponytail, be sure to use an Angelo David smoothing brush (Large Paddle Brush, $65). The boar bristles will help distribute the natural oils while the nylon bristles boost your control. A nice misting of Sherri Jessee’s Shaping Spray ($16) will add touchable hold and a lovely fragrance.
